Working at Carnival UK/P&O Cruises/Cunard means being part of a tight-knit but truly global team made up of friendly, happy, caring people. Parts of our business are incredibly diverse, but we work hard every day to promote even greater inclusion, fresh ideas and different perspectives. Whatever our role or background, we share high standards, heartfelt values and a sense of belonging. We’re focused on wellbeing every day, as well as being supportive and compassionate when we need it most.

As a growing business we have a big focus on developing skills and continuous learning. From formal qualification to the life lessons of worldwide travel, we offer our people a broad range of personal and professional development opportunities. All of our roles give people the chance to stretch themselves and learn from colleagues with a wealth of experience. As our business grows, we want our people to grow too. So we’re determined to create opportunities for everyone to drive their development and define their own career path.

Join us as Staff Chief Engineer Officer and you’ll understand that working at sea is more than just a job: It’s a way of life.

As deputy to the Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for the day to day running of the technical department and leading the engineering team, including the watchkeeping teams. It will be your job to make sure that all engine room plant and machinery is thoroughly tested and maintained so that they’re always performing well, and that all maintenance work complies with relevant regulations. As Staff Chief Engineer, you’ll also oversee the testing of SOLAS equipment, keep maintenance records, liaise with shore teams, develop the ship’s asset management plan, and attend corporate social events. Meanwhile, you’ll visit different places, explore new worlds and gain experiences that stay with you for a lifetime.

To apply for Staff Chief Engineer Officer you will need:

  • Chief Engineer Unlimited Certificate of Competency (CoC)
  • STCW High Voltage Management training certificate.

Experience on board a cruise ship would be desirable, but not essential. We believe in hiring people with the right attitudes and strengths over their competencies.
In addition to a strong technical background and leadership skills, you will love problem solving, fixing things and being hands on. You will be self-motivated and dependable, and always keen to take on more work and help others. You will be a natural communicator, often asking questions and sharing knowledge, and able to easily adapt your style to suit the situation. If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.

As well as practical skills we will help you to develop your leadership skills, supervising junior officers, cadets and technicians.

If you love problem solving and are a natural communicator with the determination to develop your career with a world-leading cruise company, join us on our journey.

What We Offer:

• Annualised salaries on 200 days worked contracts
• 12 weeks on, 12 weeks off rotation
• Comprehensive training and development program
• 5% Bonus Scheme
• 3.5 Stripe Gold Officer with deck privileges
