The Maritime Skills Academy has been a maritime leader in STCW training since 2016.
Providing delegates near and far with the necessary training to work at sea. Part of the Viking Maritime Group, The MSA is proud to have training centres in Portsmouth, Dover and Gibraltar, offering flag state recognised courses to over 5,000 delegates annually.
We are seeking a medically trained individual to join our team on a consultancy basis to lead our specialist medical training courses: STCW Medical First Aid and STCW Proficiency in Medical Care and its refresher. These courses are run over 3 and 5 days. Maritime Medical Instructor Tasks will include:
Ideally candidates should have some sea going experience and be familiar with medical stores statutory to be carried onboard ships and have operational awareness of the environment onboard ships.
Knowledge of instructional techniques, training & assessment methods and training practices would be highly sought.

- To provide medical training to STCW standards that meet the MNTB guidelines.
- To follow the training instructions and lesson plans, which are specific to each course.
- To carry out continual assessment and practical assessments to ensure the required
- To provide student and instructor feedback following delivery of a course.
- To provide bespoke medical training, on board or ashore, to ships crews.
- Assist in the development of course materials and resources as directed by the Head of Training.
- Ensuring your Continual Professional Development skills are maintained.
- To promote a positive safety culture around the workplace.
- To enable all students, and to create an atmosphere conducive to learning.
Ideally candidates should have some sea going experience and be familiar with medical stores statutory to be carried onboard ships and have operational awareness of the environment onboard ships.
Knowledge of instructional techniques, training & assessment methods and training practices would be highly sought.
Have a current professional medical registration such as:
- RGN
- Registered medical practitioner
- HCPC Paramedic, Offshore Medic
- RN WO1(MA) or equivalent
- Have relevant teaching and assessing qualification.
Erforderliche Berufserfahrung
Alle Bewerber müssen bereits Berufserfahrung an Bord eines Kreuzfahrtschiffs oder in einem 4/5* Hotel haben.
Erforderliche Sprachkenntnisse
Gute Englischkenntnisse werden voraussgesetzt.
