Hostess (Season 2025)

Maris Recruitment Ltd. is currently seeking a Hostess to work onboard a riverboat sailing in France for the 2025 season.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

• A Barge Host/Hostess is an organized and dedicated individual who enjoys ensuring guest comfort and anticipating their needs.
• This role involves not only attending to guests but also maintaining the boat's interior, preparing tables, and serving meals. A high level of customer service experience is essential.

Job Description:

• Being a Host/Hostess on a barge can be a rewarding experience for someone who enjoys meeting and taking care of people while also managing cleaning tasks.
• Aesthetic sensibility and a sense of pride in one’s work are important, as they will be complemented by beautifully arranged flowers, shining brass, and pristine bathrooms.

The position encompasses three main areas of responsibility: client care, interior upkeep, and housekeeping.

The Host/Hostess should always be available for guests.
Serving meals and preparing aperitifs and drinks before mealtimes, as well as after excursions, are key duties.

Interior housekeeping tasks include:

• Daily cleaning of cabins, bathrooms, and the saloon.
• Setting the dining table for meals.
• Watering plants and flowers.
• Keeping the bar stocked and ensuring ice is available.
• The housekeeping responsibilities require the Host/Hostess to be highly organized.
• They must manage laundry, cleaning, ironing, and maintaining tidy storage.

Requirements:

• Fluency in English.
• Exceptional service skills.
• Previous experience in a similar role.

Benefits:

• Seasonal contracts in France, lasting 7 months from April to October.
• All crew members live onboard in individual cabins, with accommodation and meals provided for the duration of the season.
• Crew work 6 days a week, from midday Sunday to midday Saturday.
