Description
To efficiently manage crew turnarounds, payroll, immigration, welfare fund and other crew related administration aspects. The Crew Manager/Purser is ultimately responsible for all the crew on board. The well being of each crewmember is crucial and in this position the Crew Manager/Purser needs to always have the crewmembers’ best interest at heart. The importance of the position is such that the Crew Manager/Purser should always strive for crew satisfaction the same way everyone else focuses on guest satisfaction. The negative impact this can have by deciding not to help crew will have an impact on the crew and thus subsequently on the guest’ experience.
The Crew Manager/Purser is directly responsible to the Chief Purser for all financial matters; to Hotel Director for all matters related to Human Resources; to personnel office for all matters related to Human Resources; and lastly, to Crew Payroll Department for all payroll related matters.
Essential Functions
- Keeping an accurate payroll and subsequent payroll reporting.
- Review onboard crew accounts and administer deposits and settlements.
- Manage sign on and off process for all crew members
- Ensure all crew certification and documents are compliant with company, flag state and MLC2006 requirementManages the Crew Safety Box service and deposits.
- 6. Efficient communication with HOD and Home office to ensure up to date vacation plans.
- Efficient communication with HOD and Personnel office to ensure compliance with SOP 3# 114-115 Vacation Planning & 3# 136-137 Vacation Plan Changes.
- Handling of crew Immigration and Custom clearance.
- Liaising with port agents and HODs for crew travel arrangements.
- Crew medical disembarkations in cooperation with the Medical team and Shore side Offices.
- Crew Purser’s cash float.
- The Crew Welfare Fund accounting and reporting.
- Administration of ILO sheets/Time & Attendance as per MLC2006.
- Assist HRM to ensure smooth operation of SPLASH! Committee and all planned functions, events and facilities.
- Maintain confidentiality of all communications whether written, email, fax or telephone.
- Accurate and complete administration of crew files including certification, travel documents, personal details, etc.
- To be familiar with and execute the Seabourn HESS-MS appropriate to their position.
Qualifications
Education:
Fluent English, written and spoken
Experience:
A minimum of one year experience in the Pursers department on board a Seabourn equivalent vessel plus appropriate on the job training.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Computer knowledge, (Word, Excel, Email, Fidelio, EPIC, MAPS)
Good communication skills.
An approachable personality.
Maintain confidentiality of all communications whether written, email, fax or telephone.
